Tourism without barriers

Available translations:

Genoa takes great care of disabled tourists.

Public and private entities have cooperated in drawing up guides, databases and dedicated sites providing exhaustive and useful information to help disabled people visit Genoa and various interesting areas around it as easily as possible.

terre di mare, information for disabled peopleThe service offered by Genoa Provincial Department for Social Policies allows people who have difficulties in walking to rent four-wheel electrical scooters in order to easily visit the old town and all accessible tourist facilities in Genoa.

Renting the scooter is free for all people holding the card "OK Liguria per tutti" (OK Liguria for all), which can be obtained contacting the service centre “Terre di Mare” or completing the dedicated form available on-line. This service is managed by the operators of social cooperative La Cruna and made possible thanks to Costa Edutainment S.p.a.’s sponsorship.

It offers information on disabled access for tourist services (hotels, restaurants, cinema, theatres…), a map of tourist routes which are free of architectural barriers, information on accompanying services, assistance and tourist guides.

Genoa for allMoreover, the guide "Genova per tutti noi" (Genoa for all of us) is also available, which allows tourists having motor disabilities to discover the city independently and to enjoy an accurate and reliable source of information on the accessibility of specific itineraries and accommodation facilities.

The identification of accessible tourist itineraries was the outcome of a far-reaching study aimed at monitoring the accessibility of pedestrian itineraries, carried out by La Cruna by order of Genoa City Department for Equal Opportunities, with the cooperation of Consulta Handicap. The same professional operators also analysed existing architectural barriers in approximately 500 different facilities, from museums to cinemas, from theatres to hotels, from restaurants to shops.

The Italian or French or English version of the guide can be easily downloaded from Social Cooperative La Cruna’s official site.

Disable people can also request a copy of the Italian version of the guide “Genova per tutti noi” by completing the relevant form on La Cruna’s site or calling the centre “Terre di Mare” at Tel. +39 010.542098.
