La Lanterna

Symbol of the town, the Lanterna (lighthouse) was built in the XII century, it is 117 m high and it guides the ships inside the harbour. Close to the Lighthouse there is the Museum which can be reached waliking for about 600 m along a promenade lining the Old Walls.

Santa Maria di Castello and Torre degli Embriaci

The Sanctuary of Santa Caterina da Genova

The Sanctuary is a gorgeous example of the artistic Genoese school of the XVI century; in it there is the urn of Santa Caterina Fieschi Adorno, who died in 1510 and was made Saint in 1737 by Pope Clemens XI; in 1943 Pope Pious XII appointed her Saint Patron of all Italian hospitals. _ Her day is celebrated on 12th September.

The Holy "Mandillo" (Veil) in the Church of San Bartolomeo degli Armeni
