At the end of April, every 5 years. It’s the most important italian flowers and plants show, with more than 500 thousands visitors during the eleven show days. An astonishing journey among colors forms and scents of plants and flowers from every part of the world. Next Euroflora will be held in 2015.

On holy Thursday and friday the traditional processions run in the historical city centre. The main one is the holy Thursday one. Durino these days locals honor the tradition visiting the churches and their altars , strictly in odd numbers.

Set against an exotic backdrop, Genoa proposes a grand bazaar of peoples enlivened by traders, craftsman and restaurants from many different countries. International shows, concerts and meetings are also part of the programme on stage.

This is the most important event in Italy devoted to poetry, featuring performances, conferences, readings, shows in different city locations; and on June 16th, the Great Night of Poetry in the wonderful palaces of Strada Nuova.

On the night of Saint John’s Eve, the city is enlivened with music, street games, guided tours and shows, and at midnight the traditional bonfire is lit. On the afternoon of June 24th, the Procession of the historical confraternities comes out of the Cathedral and parades with their life-size Crucifixes down to the Old Port where the blessing of the sea and the city takes place.

Violins, hyperviolins, violas, chamber music ensembles, classical and digital violin-making, great performers and conductors at Teatro Carlo Felice, young musicians, competing composers, music and research, classical and contemporary and a house (Casa Paganini) as a venue for exploring the relationships between music, science and state-of-the-art technology.

The largest show in town, The Genoa International Boat Show is the only one in the world including such a large marina - more than 400 boats hosted in 2006 up to 45 meters -, wide outdoor areas, and world-class areas like the ones under the tensile structure overlooking the sea, all in one single site. The Show currently features 8 kilometres of pathways on the sea, including jetties, bridges, quays, and elevated promenades, plus traditional routes.

Exhibitions, laboratories, shows and special events: Science Festival holds more than 250 events that will explore the planet of science from every angle. Science and education meet in a range of "hands-on" experiments in natural science, physics, chemistry, and astronomy laboratories
Next edition will take place from October 25th to November 4th, 2012 and it will focus on the theme of imagination.

Over the Christmas period the city comes alive with many initiatives, such as the market of Saint Porphyrius, craftsmen displaying their products in the streets and squares of the old town, the Christmas market, the Book Fair, the Luna Park, and not only that. Among the other attractions worth mentioning are the traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree donated by the Fiemme Valley, in the Trentino Alto Adige region; the “Confeugo” – an old tradition consisting in setting alight a large bay tree log, a gift to the Doge of the city by the People’s Representative – and New Year’s Day.
