Genoa is a "complete town": thanks to its peculiar position, outstretched along the coast and behind the mountains, it can be reached by plane, land and from the sea. The airport is only 20 minutes far from the city centre and it is connected to the town by the "Volabus" shuttle until the last landing and by the bus I24 that allows you to reach Sestri Ponente railway station and then easily reach the city centre.
By sea, Genoa is linked to Olbia, Porto Torres, Palermo, Barcelona, the Corse and, during the summertime, to many other destinations. Many nice world cruises are starting from the harbour of Genoa and travelling along the routes of the Mediterranean Sea.
The two main railway stations are equally close to the city centre: Piazza Principe lies in the west, while Brignole is in the residential area of the city centre and towards the east, with its fair complex and show area. Genoa can be reached by car via motorways from Ventimiglia, Leghorn, Milan and Turin.
There are city buses (covering the metropolitan area), car rentals, taxis and other characteristic means of transport such as lifts and funiculars that let the user admire the town from the hills above and help find shortcuts to leave the town’s daily traffic and get faster to the desired destination.
By boat you can enjoy a pleasant trip, discovering the port of Genoa. You can reach the " Riviera di Levante" on a night trip and you can even go "chasing whales", leaving for Whale Watching at the "Cetacean Sanctuary".
